SEP 7, 2012: Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Inc. (CMT) and Warren Knoles, Senior Vice-President of the firm, were recently awarded the 2012 Outstanding Business of the Year Award by the Illinois Black Chamber of Commerce (ILBCC) for their respective efforts in promoting minority student involvement in the civil engineering and construction industry. The award is given to individuals and/or organizations that have demonstrated outstanding leadership, business growth and development and who exemplify a high level of business excellence and professionalism. It was presented at the ILBCC’s annual meeting on August 23, 2012.
CMT’s and Mr. Knoles’ partnership with the ILBCC in promoting minority student participation in the Bradley University Civil Engineering and Construction (CEC) Department’s Innovations Conference on Asphalt and Transportation (ICAT) over the past three years was cited during the presentation. This program sponsors African-American high school student attendance at the ICAT to encourage them to consider civil engineering and/or construction as a career path. The acknowledgment also included support of the Annual Black Expo.
Knoles is a 1970 graduate of Bradley’s CEC program. He currently serves as chairman of the department’s advisory board and is on the program committee for the ICAT.
