On Sunday, June 8, one excited young lady received the red carpet treatment before boarding an airplane for Orlando where her dream of a Disney World vacation awaited. Three-year-old Sophia was met at MidAmerica Airport by a host of well-wishers and volunteers who provided her and her family with VIP service as they embarked on a trip made possible by the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois.
“It was a very special day for a very special girl. It was heartwarming to witness and I’m so grateful that CMT had the opportunity to be a part of making Sophia’s wish come true,” said CMT President Dan Meckes, who was on hand for the occasion.
Sophia was greeted at the airport by a personal assistant who attended to her needs as they made their way down a balloon-lined red carpet. She and her family received gift bags filled with t-shirts, toys, autograph books, photo albums, gift cards and other items. To make her flight more enjoyable, Sophia was presented with her own personal DVD player and a copy of her favorite movie.
CMT, which has supported Make-A-Wish financially since 1997, became aware of Sophia’s dream trip through representatives from MidAmerica Airport. CMT has served the airport as design consultant for many years. Allegiant Air provided the transportation and all three organizations worked with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois to fulfill Sophia’s wish.
